The Queen of Calm
Jenna Z Hermans
My obsession with organization started when as a child I found it difficult to focus. I was diagnosed with ADD (Attention-Deficit-Disorder). To find my calm, I came up with systems and tools to keep me on track in school and college (post-its and palm pilots forever!).
Then, I fell head over heels in love and married my husband Kyle, inheriting an “insta-family” of 3 kids who live(d) with us full-time. We moved to a new city where I had no support system, and with him traveling extensively for work, I had to figure my parenting shit out real fast or I wouldn’t survive!
Adding a 4th child to the family completed us, and also brought a whole new set of challenges. Oh and guess what, we decided to pursue our dream of starting a consulting business, Be Courageous, where I’d be the Chief Operating Officer as well!
One afternoon, during one of the zillion breastmilk pumping sessions during our son’s first year, right before the other 3 kids were about to come crashing in the house from school, with Kyle hustling on calls to get our first clients, I realized:
There’s no backup. It’s up to me. Holy f’g shit.
Hot tears and shaking sobs took over my body. I was in way over my head. I needed to scream at the top of my lungs, but I couldn’t because, the baby!
Then something shifted. I realized: Wait, I have all of these tools, from childhood, from running businesses, from my psychology and human resources and organizational management background. I have everything I need to make this life I’ve chosen run more smoothly.
People constantly ask me, “How do you manage everything and stay sane?”
I’m here because I want to share the tools and systems I set up in my home and life that keep me calm within the chaos that comes with having a family (and everything else). It’s not about “having it all” – it’s about finding joy in the life you’ve created.
I’m going to teach you how to build pleasure back into your world by taking things you already have to do and do them better. And you don’t need to suffer or lose sleep to get what you want. F that.
I’m going to help you own your calm, and to find the energy you lost somewhere along the way to do what you love again!
I’d love to hear from you!
